suisse-la-bleue-clandestineLa Bleue Clandestine absinthe is unique in a few different ways that truly do set it apart as special. To start with, it’s made and formulated in Switzerland which is the actual birthplace of absinthe. Also the “clandestine” part of its name pays tribute to the fact that the actual recipe and blending techniques were developed by Swiss bootleggers in the Val de Travers Valley after the drink was banned.

Now this particular brand of absinthe is clear “not green at all” and isn’t overly loaded with thujon, as other brands of absinthe can tend to be. However; rest assured that it does contain a respectable amount. Even so, Suisse La Bleue Clandestine is a very flavorful drink. “Not bitter”.

It contains only the finest domestically grown Swiss herbs, is blended in strict accordance to the original 100 year old recipe and contains no artificial additives.

The story doesn’t end there either because this unique brand of absinthe that has been described by some as having a “floral” aroma is available in two strengths. One is 53% or 106 proof and the other choice is 72 percent or 144 proof.

Now 144 proof is awfully close to pure alcohol, so if you’ve never tried drinking liquor this strong, it can take some getting used to… to say the least.
